The implementaton of a BI solution in a company operating in financial markets
Kačur, Andrej ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Dvorský, Ondřej (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on designing a prototype Business Intelligence solution for a company operating in financial markets. The company does not possess a full-scaled system for measuring enterprise performance and performs this task by the means of manual data collection. The current system is not sufficient for covering the growing number of the com-pany's dealings. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with introducing basic principles of Enterprise Per-formance Management, Balanced Scorecard and, subsequently, Business Intelligence. The practical part covers the defined strategic goals of the company using the Balanced Sco-recard method. The discovered strategic goals are transposed into a strategic map. Metrics for measuring these goals are assigned to them. Only some of the goals are chosen for the implementation of the Business Intelligence solution. Source data for assessing the reached values are defined for the given indicators. Data from the data source were transposed into the data hub. Subsequently, an OLAP cube connected to a reporting tool for displaying the calculated metrics is created.
Analýza a návrh průzkumu trhu ohledně BI reportingu a dashboardů
Andiľová, Alexandra ; Slánský, David (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
The main objective of the diploma thesis called "Analysis and design of BI Reporting and Dashboards Survey" is to analyze the main principles of Business Intelligence and Corporate Performance Management approach with a focus on performance reporting and dashboards, and to design a survey form for BI Reporting and Dashboards Survey which will focus on the current state of the reporting and dashboards in European enterprises. The final design of the market survey form is based on the identified key areas of the topic and is created by using the basic principles of statistics which help to compose successful market surveys. It represents the main input for the conduct of the quantitative market survey planned to be realized in the summer of 2014. The first part of the diploma thesis represents the theoretical baseline for the analysis of the key areas of the survey's content. This part includes introduction to the BI and CPM principles (chapter 2) followed by the identification and definition of key elements of successful BI reporting and dashboards (chapter 3). The last chapter of this part (chapter 4) summarizes the key principles of statistics leading to beneficial composition of market surveys. The second, practical part of the diploma thesis (chapter 5), presents the overall design of the BI Reporting and Dashboards Survey. This design includes scope, objectives of the survey, profile of respondents, and specification of the question form with predefined range of possible answers to each individual question. The final design of the question form is also available in Appendix 1 in MS Excel file. This diploma thesis emphasizes the importance of the effective performance reporting and the beneficial use of dashboards in organizations and outlines the key areas of those topics which business representatives should focus on. Another benefit of this thesis is the prepared question form itself which might bring interesting and valuable findings about the current state of BI reporting and dashboards implemented and used among the European countries.
Analytical support for funding of delegated powers of public administration
Lobodáš, Pavel ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
This thesis is focusing on problematic concerning funding of delegated powers of a municipality. Nowadays, the delegated powers of a municipality are funded by allowance which bases on calculation of Ministry of the interior. The calculation is derived using a mechanism, reflecting a performance range of delegated powers of a municipality and therefore a total amount of allowance does not take into account actual performance. The Government does not currently have data, which would enable objective managing of funds. This problem has been solved with proposed solution of the analytical instrument, which is meant to be the support for funding. The proposed solution is consisting from four logical parts. First part is aiming on analysis of subject area and creation of strategy map according to concept Balanced Scorecard developed by Kaplan and Norton. Following part is aiming on definition set of key performance indicators and assembling of Balanced Scorecard, which is converted into a multidimensional model by Business Intelligence technologies. Data warehouse provides information to the final consumers as a set of reports created by specialized reporting instruments. Verification of proposed solution is performed by set of three pilot reports, which are designed as a decision support for problematic area. Result of this thesis is mainly verification of applicability of the proposed solution combining management concept BSC and Business Intelligence technology, in order to receive relevant information for effective managing of delegated powers of municipality funding. The final verification of applicability of the proposed solution brings the possibility of using also in other areas.

Client workers‘ performance reporting
Klepetko, Vítězslav ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
The thesis aims at design and implementation of a corporate performance management system in retail banking. It proposes a tree of performance metrics based on Dupont pyra-mid model. Using financial as well as non-financial measures, the proposed model manages to link all levels of management together into one shared hierarchy. As a result, the model shows how performance of a single worker adds up to the performance of the company as a whole. The model uses financial metrics such as interest margin, account balance, fees and remuneration cost and links them with non-financial measures such as client worker activities with clients, success rate of marketing campaigns, or client complaints. Implementation of the corporate performance management system is done using regular business intelligence tools. Third normal form data warehouse is the source for all data needed. A datamart on Teradata platform is proposed to hold the SQL transformed data from the data warehouse. Using the datamart a metadata layer in Microstrategy is created to distribute data among users.
Draft of a Software Solution for Performance Management
Čech, Ondřej ; Zelená, Veronika (advisor) ; Váchová, Lucie (referee)
This thesis discusses the topic of Corporate performance management and focuses on Balanced Scorecard method. In the theoretical part are described theoretic backgrounds of this method and fields related to the method. The practical part is based on the theoretical part and it is a result of cooperation with the consulting company Ambica. Balanced Scorecard method is thanks to its universality very popular tool of Corporate performance management which is usable in almost all types of organizations. Due to universality there is no single procedure how to implement BSC within an organization and also no supporting software exists. The aim of this thesis is to create a design procedure BSC and compile a list of functional properties of new Ambica's BSC software.

Dyntar, Ladislav ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Novotný, Ota (referee)
This thesis is devoted to the modern management concept of Corporate Performance Management (CPM, enterprise performance management) and its implementation in selected small company. The first part focuses on the description of the concept of CPM and its individual components (processes, methodologies, metrics and applications). In the second part a particular small company is introduced to the reader, together with its activities, organizational structure and the reasons behind their interest in CPM. It is then followed by an analysis of the company, its CPM maturity and proposed steps for CPM implementation. These steps are based on the framework presented in this work, which was created by combining different approaches to CPM implementation and available CPM maturity model. The third part, devoted to the implementation of CPM, starts with an analysis of the CPM in the cloud market, followed by a review of two selected solutions. To select the appropriate application, a multi-criterion model is created. The description of actual implementation, and evaluation of its results are included in the last chapter.
